Kobe Bryant’s exit from the NBA has prompted Nike to go into retrospective mode, reissuing his signature sneaker lineup from the Huarache 2K4 to the current Kobe XI.
Themed after curtain calls, the kicks are fading from white to black as part of the collection. The current shade for the range is grey and Nike is using the dust shade of the color to style the Kobe 4.
Made for performance, the sneaker stands on a Zoom cushion with an upper that is styled in a combination nubuck, an embedded Flywire panel and a TPU heel counter.
The kicks just released and can be found in limited numbers at KITH and other select shops. If you can’t find them locally, hunt eBay.
Here is a preview of the Nike Zoom Kobe IV in a blue and white colorway with touches of red. The kicks have been dubbed “Philly” as they were made to honor the city of Bryant’s birth and upbringing, Philadelphia.
The kicks are styled with stars, which along with its colors references the city’s role in the birth of the USA. The insole reads “8-23-78” Kobe’s birthday, it would make sense if the kicks released around that date. You can pick them up early at marqueesole.
