Now hailed as a shoe that defined a generation of hoops, the genius of the Air Foamposite One was initially doubted by some. The doubt dissolved only when a young Anfernee Hardaway picked it out of a collection of samples and made it his. In celebration of its 20th anniversary, the legend returns in fan-favorite red, complete with all the classic touches.
The release is set for the 19th of May and US based Politics is among the shops that will carry the release.
2017 marks the 20th anniversary of Anfernee Hardaway’s Air Foamposite One. The celebration started in January with the sneaker’s return in OG Dark Neon Royal. Next up for the silhouette’s anniversary range is the return of the Copper edition. The colorway dates back to 2010, playing of off Hardaway’s Penny nickname (copper is the metal used to mint penny coins). Styled on a translucent sole, the sneaker’s upper is set in metallic copper on the Faomposite base, which is set against black nubuck.
When it comes to Anfernee Hardaway’s signature line, no shoe embodied his ‘Penny’ persona more than the ‘Copper’ Air Foamposite One reissue in 2010. The design took the Penny inspiration further than ever, outfitted in a Metallic Copper Foamposite shell, complete with classic Black nubuck detailing and a traditional translucent sole. Now celebrating the model’s 20th anniversary, this retro rendition returns in true form, complete with the classic Copper finish recognised by many.
The sneaker is set to drop on Thursday, the 20th of April through shops that include US based Rock City. In Europe and the US, the Nike Apps are an option as is Nike.com. eBay is also an option to find the sneaker.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Air Foamposite One, Nike is reissuing the classic dark neon royal colorway. The classic colorway was too bright for NBA rules upon its release, forcing Penny Hardaway to sharpie stripe the upper with black lines.
The design starts on a translucent sole with the polyurethane Foamposite shell in dark neon royal with black durabuck and mesh on the edges. Riding on a full length Zoom Air cushion, the kicks are releasing in the North America on Friday, the 20th of January through shops like Canada based Capsule and directly through Nike App.
In Europe, the sneaker will launch on the 26th of January through the Nike SNKRS platform and through Nike dealers. You can also find the kicks through eBay.
