The Cortez is, it goes without saying, one of the handful of designs that are instantly recognizable, even by those that aren’t footwear fanatics. Its story extends back to the very origins of Nike’s running ethos.

Even with that history, the Cortez does have a complicated modern interpretation. For most people, it’s a standard, low-cost option that comes with that clear Swoosh and iconic styling. For some others, it’s a symbol of criminal activity and gang violence.

in areas such as Compton, California, the Nike Cortez is connected with some of the violent individuals who wore them. Yet and still, it manages to grab ubiquitous attention and fly off shelves.

This SE version comes in a textile base on its upper, accented with a gleaming Gold Swoosh. A Gum outsole wraps up this retro look
