As Nike continues its journey into a new period of creative experiment, the celebrated Air Force 1 has once again been given to re-imagination after very successful attempts by Off-White, A Cold Wall, Acronym and more, whom collectively produced bold new, re-purposed silhouettes, re-defining its original sports function for a progressive modern lifestyle audience.
For Spring 2018, Nike have delved once again into it’s rich sportswear past and continues to refine and re-conceive the classic silhouette of the Air Force 1 by selecting 14 of Nike’s internal designers, who were given the task to re-design the Air Force 1 within a very tight deadline of two weeks with an open, but simple brief to create 5 new interpretations of the AF1 (The Air Jordan 1 was also chosen, representing the two most iconic ‘1’ models in Nike’s History) Hence the ‘Nike 1 Reimagined’ project was created.
Amongst the design objectives that was borne for the project, there became five themes entitled the explorer, jester, lover, rebel and sage, allowing the unique personality of each design to stand on it’s own while having clear aesthetic connections as a complete pack. For more information on the project, see Nike News here.
The Nike Air Force 1 ‘Reimagined’ pack is scheduled to release on February 7th – stay tuned to EUKicks for further updates.
