Did you know that Michael Jordan occasionally laced sneakers not belonging to his signature catalogue? In fact, it happened four times.

In 1988, shortly before the debut of the Air Jordan 3, MJ wore the Nike Air Alpha Force against the New York Knicks. It was a tenuous time for Jordan and Nike, especially considering the lukewarm response to the Air Jordan 2, and the Air Alpha Force allowed Jordan to somewhat distance himself from the polarising signature model.

This year, Nike are set to resurrect the long-dormant model, the debut colourway even mimicking the original Chicago pair MJ wore in 1988. Looking very close to its original specs, the Air Alpha Force is as fresh as it was 35 years ago. Built with a classic lockdown strap on the vamps, the silhouette employs white perforated leather for breathability and tonal stitching throughout.

Importantly, Nike look to have retained all the vintage branding, including ‘Air Alpha Force’ on the tongues with an accompanying basketball graphic.
