This season, Nike Skateboarding has teamed with streetwear label to FPAR to create a fresh take on the Dunk SB High. The design is set apart by its design fusion that incorporates elements from the Air Jordan 5 and Air Jordan 6. The Jordan inspired tongue, lace clip and side panel detailing are paired with FPAR branding. The unique design is presented in a mix of black and dark grey over a leather construction.
The kicks recently hit the racks at shops like Unheardof where it sold-out. You still have an opportunity to get the kicks at retail. Nike.com will release the sneaker through its SNEAKERS app on the 2nd of November for £109.95.
In 1993, artist and designer Tetsu “Tet” Nishiyama founded FPAR, a streetwear label that stands for Forty Percent Against Rights. The label’s designs are born from the concept that art is for the public good, and that rights to original artwork are lost once 40% of it is modified. Led by that ethos, FPAR pushes against traditional forms of media by expressing its artistic provocation through clothing.
FPAR’s customisation of Nike SB’s Dunk High Pro starts from Tet’s own love of skating, which began in the mid-1990s when he was rocking the Air Jordan V and VI. In typical fashion, FPAR warps the Dunk with elements of the iconic AJ silhouette on a black-on-smoke upper and custom embroidered messages of “Don’t Follow Me” and “I’m Lost Too” on the Swoosh. “Trust No One” is embroidered on the back of the tongue, keeping that most vital maxim close. These words reflect Tet’s philosophy of “Find out which way you want to go and that becomes your own path”.
