For May, size? is adding a new sneaker to its ongoing adidas Originals Archive series with an edition of the Trimm Trab. Dubbed “Trimmy”, the sneaker has a classic look in backstory. Here is how size? describe the release…
…we unveil the size? exclusive Trimm Trab ‘Trimmy’ edition, painting the pair in its OG colourway and celebrating the silhouette’s history.
…unknown to most, the Trimm Trab’s initial purpose began life back in 1975.Back in the mid- ‘70s, the German nation was swept by a government-led sports and fitness campaign dubbed ‘Trimm Dich, durch sport’, translating to ‘Get fit, do sports’. The aim was to get people healthy at a time where levels of inactivity were reaching record highs after the economic boom. Over 1,500 ‘Trimm-Dich-Pfades’ were constructed across Germany. These fitness trails were built with wooden equipment and jogging paths to encourage a healthy lifestyle.
adidas was quick to support the movement and launched the ‘Trimm Trab’ athleisure shoe – a multi-purpose model built for a whole range of sporting activities. And if you’re wondering where the word ‘Trimmy’ fits into all of this, it was the name coined for the thumbs up mascot of the fitness campaign. The smiling character featured on posters all across the country and just like this latest release, across the Trimm Trab’s shoe-box.A like-for-like reissue, this ‘Trimmy’ iteration arrives with a butter-soft, navy blue nubuck base, complemented with ‘Argentina Blue’ leather three stripes and heel tabs. Sitting below, a distinctive dual density PU outsole offers lightweight and supportive cushioning while a D-shaped, ghilly-loop lacing system makes fastening a breeze, allowing you to tighten the laces from the top to the bottom with one quick pull.
Mark your calendars for Friday, the 10th of May to find the adidas Trimm Trab “Trimmy” at all size? locations and through the size? app.
