Fisherman who harvest the sea are known to lose their huge nets. Some fishing crews even discard their old nets into the waters of the ocean. And apparently this happens a lot because there are currently 640,000 tons of discarded fishing nets in the ocean.

The free floating nets are called “ghost nets” and they are a hazard to ocean life.

Bracenet is a company that seeks out these ghosts nets to transform them into bracelets.

The label is now expanding to footwear through a collaboration with KangaROOS. The eco-brand chose to work with the Omnirun for the collaboration, dressing it in an aquatic blend of marine blue and aqua. The sneaker is layered in suede and a textile that is derived from recycled materials found in the ocean.

The KangaROOS Omnirun “Ocean 7” x Bracenet is handmade in Germany and will release in numbers limited to just 380 pairs. Housed in a special box that includes a limited edition keychain, the kicks will drop this week.

43einhalb will have the kicks on the 4th of May, online at 00:01.

Main Source will have the kicks online on the 3rd of May at 11PM BST. The in-shop release will follow at 10AM BST on the 4th of May.

Sneakerbaas will have the sneaker on the 4th of May at midnight.
